Sam Gagner? Minnesota? What?

I just read that Sam Gagner of the London Knights and a member of the 2007 Canadian National Junior team is from Minnesota...anybody know how a Minnesotoan (whatever you call them) ends up on Team Canada?

Well, his father is Dave Gagner, a long-time member of the Minnesota North Stars.

It is simply possible that he was born there while his father played.

Probably the same way Brett Hull ended up on Team USA.

Patick Eaves was born in Canada, but has played for US Jr's. His dad is Mike Eaves. He was born in Calgary while his dad was playing for the Flames. It's bound to happen.

Zach Parise is also from Minnesota, and US player, though his father Jean-Pierre played for Canada...

The Gagner's had also bought a house in the States a couple years ago when Sam was playing for Sioux City and (was planning on) going to Wisconsin.
